The winter of 2014 has been miserable, and on the Weekeepeemee River, the extreme temperature shifts have caused a thick sheet of ice to form as the mercury dropped and then shatter into huge chunks when things warmed up. Lynn Baker took this photo early in January, before we were buried in snow. The river appears so tranquil, but just imagine the sound that must have reverberated as the ice broke up. |
